5th graders work hard on projects and assignments that call on them to draw on the skills and strategies they have been learning in elementary school. Teachers challenge students with long-term projects that require planning and organization.

What is 5th grade like?

Fun with Kindergarten and Kenya buddies

Independent learners as they work together on projects, activities, and class responsibilities

  • Field trips to Camp Roger, spending the day as a pioneer at an old schoolhouse, and going to the Kalamazoo Valley Museum on a Mars mission
  • Thanking God in meaningful participation and leading devotions in the classroom and praise assemblies
  • Helping and serving by raking leaves for the school neighbors and a cookie sale to buy food for the local food pantry
  • Growth in their walk with Jesus
  • Relationships with peers mature and develop into long-lasting friendships
  • Artists abound in band and orchestra!
  • Daily subject matter is inviting and interesting: the covenant promises of God, the life of Jesus, explorers, plants, insects, revolutionary war, novel reading, and so much more
  • Eager, happy, and creative children made in God’s image
